The first step in getting help for any problem is always acknowledging you have a problem at all. Once you realise you have a problem and admit to it you can start the road to recovery. Start by looking online for gambling addict support websites, join an gambling addict community or forum where you can talk about your feelings and experiences. Call a hotline for addicts and listen to what they have to say to you. You can also join a live group and meet with others who are in the same position. How to tell if someone you know could be an addict. If someone you know is gambling to try and pay off debts they are most likely an addict. Addicts are also very emotional about winning and losing. If they have a big loss they immediately start talking about how to get it all back and more. Addicts are likely to borrow money from friends and family for gambling purposes and usually have problems at home concerning their gambling habits. If someone you know is called a compulsive gambler see that as a sign of addiction.

Online gambling has a dark and ugly side to it. Many gamblers who were full blown addicts or on the brink now have a convenient way to gamble more often. They can stay in the comfort of their own homes while they try to win money online. The worst part about gambling online is the fact that no one will see the signs of someone gambling too much. Since an addict can just stay at home or at the office it is harder to spot the signs. Addicts can lose all their life savings online long before someone realises there is even a problem. Anyone with an Internet connection can easily gamble online anytime of the day.
