A person who wins once definitely tries again and again and again to win more. On the contrary is the person looses he tries to gain it back by luck the next time hence he also plays till the time he doesn’t win. Gambling addiction boils down to the rush of winning. Just like any drug, the rush of winning while gambling causes many to go back and back. Even after they have lost it all they think they are one lucky streak away from being right back in it and more. Just like all addicts gamblers who can’t stop tend to start betting more and more often. Soon the betting amounts won’t satisfy either and they will bet larger and larger amounts. When they have lost it all they go through major withdrawal.

A German study sent ten gamblers to a local casino and studied their actions. The gamblers were picked at random and asked to participate in a little experiment. First they played a game of blackjack where there was no money at stake. Next they played the same game with their own money on the line. The study found that gambling for money rises the heart rate and hormones are released into the system. These are the hormones that contribute to a state of arousal and possible addiction. Its this rush that keep you coming back.
